A Special Yoga Place
YogaSix, Collegeville’s newest yoga studio, is a special place. Special because the studio is a brand-new state-of-the-art space built to appeal pleasingly to all the senses. Yoga practitioners will enjoy the perfect room temperatures and soothing digitally-controlled colored lighting along with pleasant scents to help relax their bodies and their minds.
But the most important quality that makes YogaSix special is owner Lacey Schmidt herself. Lacey is an upbeat yoga practitioner who exudes affirmative positivity that infects everyone around her. “She cares about everyone and it shows,” explains Kris Heffner, teacher at Y6. “She personally wants to get to know everyone in the studio. There’s a great vibe here; … never any negativity, (and) we are all very warm and welcoming. Members quickly become friends with each other and the staff.”
A Fun Community
For 12 years, Lacey was a fourth grade teacher and an endurance athlete. She became certified as a yoga teacher in 2016 when she realized how critical a yoga practice was in accompanying her body and mind. But she couldn’t find a class she liked with what she looked for in yoga. “I couldn’t find my tribe,” she says. “I couldn’t find a fun community.” So she decided to start a studio herself.
In her investigation of yoga studio franchises, Lindsay flew out to California and met with Lindsay Jones, the President of YogaSix.
“Her body was normal,” Lacey says, “Not super thin.” And she seemed authentic and down to earth—like Lucy herself. “YogaSix also offered six styles of yoga classes, with the perfect class for everyone. I liked that each class provides a specific focus that produces specialized body benefits,” says Lacy.
YogaSix classes are also available on-line through Xponential+ live and on-demand workouts.
In addition to Chris, Lacey’s staff includes a Wellness Instructor and 10 yoga instructors who each bring their special personalities and skills to their teaching. To make new members feel comfortable, each is paired with a YogaSix ambassador—another member who makes them feel welcome and becomes a personal friend. “You don’t have to worry if you’ve never done yoga before. We get you into poses, by explaining what to do. We don’t call it the ‘downward dog’ or chant or burn candles,” says Lacey.
“We want everyone to gain maximum benefit doing whatever they are comfortable with. Our members have fun and leave relaxed.” And the fast growth of YogaSix Collegeville attests to their success. Since they opened in mid-December, YogaSix has grown to close to 300 members.
Lacy and her husband also spared no expense to keep everyone in the studio safe from COVID. They installed a hospital-grade fresh air intake and air filtration system that removes any and all dust, allergens, toxins, bacteria, and virus particles using UV light. The studio is also carefully cleaned between each class.
