Nestled in the heart of Main Street in Collegeville Borough you will find The Tennis Shop. This specialty shop has been a destination for tennis players all over the region for 16 years now thanks to the delightful mother/daughter partnership of Joyce and Jennifer Capuzzi. Both women share a love for the game of tennis and have invested much of their lives to this time-honored sport.
When Jennifer was young, Joyce played tennis competitively in the local area. Jennifer picked up a racquet at 5 years old, fell in love with the sport, and started playing competitively at the age of 7. Eventually, Jennifer went on to travel and compete nationally. And while Jennifer no longer plays she has continued to teach over the years inspiring other young athletes.
How It all Began
“It was really on a whim,” Jennifer said when asked how they came to open their shop. Her mother, Joyce, lived in Collegeville and through a friendly conversation with a local business owner, learned that there was a space available on Main Street. She quickly called her daughter up and said, “Do you want to open a shop?” Jennifer, a tennis coach and the director of a country club in Allentown at the time, had been considering how she might decrease her time on the court but still stay connected with the sport she loved. The moment just seemed right, so they jumped at the chance and have been open ever since.

Joyce and Jennifer have thoughtfully curated a generous selection of all-things-tennis and, yes, pickleball in their modest space. Stepping into the shop you will immediately notice a well-organized assortment of clothing, shoes, racquets, bags, hats, and pretty much any accessory you might wish to have for your afternoon tennis or pickleball match.

Over the years, Jennifer said much of their business has grown organically by word of mouth and through their many connections in the local tennis and country club community. They have resiliently adapted to the changing markets and economy over the years, developing a website in 2010 and officially launching their online store front in 2014. Their forward thinking positioned them to navigate through 2020 and the years that followed as well as they could hope for. The online store also allowed them to broaden their customer base and they now ship their products nationally.
