Collegeville Borough and Ursinus College leaders made a joint appeal for federal community development appropriations.
In mid-December Council Vice President Gary Hoffmann, Manager Tamara Twardowski, Junior Council member Alicia Hoffmann and Ursinus President Robyn Hannigan traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with Senator John Fetterman and Representative Madeline Dean and their respective staff. Business Development Consultant David Colangelo of Hill Partner, LLC was also present for the meetings.
The purpose of the visit was to meet with Collegeville’s Federal Representatives, discuss the work of the borough and college, and ask for consideration of future federal appropriations. Items of discussion included:
- The need for Main Street infrastructure improvements,
- Pedestrian safety at trail crossings and intersections,
- Borough Hall renovations and improvement needs,
- Ninth Avenue sidewalks and traffic calming,
- Ursinus College safety enhancements,
- Concerns with the Perkiomen Bridge Hotel, and with PFOA and PFOS contaminants in our local water.
The visits with our elected officials were very positive. Both Representative Dean and Senator Fetterman were supportive of the Borough’s and College’s requests, and offered their support for the initiatives when possible.
The Borough and College are grateful for the opportunity our elected officials gave to meet with them.
